Professor David Berlowitz holds a joint appointment from The University of Melbourne and Austin Health in Melbourne, Australia (Chair of Physiotherapy (Clinical)). David’s clinical practice and research addresses the causes and treatments of sleep and breathing disorders in neuromuscular disease, especially motor neurone disease and after spinal cord injury. David’s research encompasses epidemiology, sleep and respiratory physiology, imaging, clinical trials, machine-learning, and implementation science.

David has substantial expertise as a clinical trialist, having been an investigator on 43 competitively funded, investigator-initiated clinical trials, led 26 as CIA, with 22 being multi-centre and 9 multi-national.
